Secretary of State visits Tipp City

April 4, 2008 at 1:27 pm | In News, Tipp City | Leave a Comment

Here is an excerpt from the Tipp Herald article about the Ohio Secretary of State’s Visit to Tipp City.

by DANA RASMUSSEN
Staff Writer

Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner said she knows change is hard, but Ohioans will need to adjust to ensure the validity of the state’s voting process. Brunner spoke about the state’s voting procedure and equipment with Tipp City, Troy and Piqua Chamber of Commerce members in addition to several other Miami County figure-heads Tuesday at Harrison’s in Tipp City.

“Ohio is neither red nor blue and we tend to swing one way or another, which is why we probably seem to matter so much in this country when it comes to the presidential election,” Brunner said. Brunner said after the 2000 presidential election, many people throughout the country were skeptical of the way ballots were cast and counted. “People really felt strongly about that,” she said.

A new look, an exciting schedule of events, and gifts for visitors will make Tipp City Public Library’s celebration of National Library Week, April 13 – 19, a great event for everyone.
The library has a new logo and tag line, and it will be featured prominently throughout the week when visitors are given pens, notepads, book bags, and other gifts.
“We’re excited about the new look, and we want to share it with the public. Also, we’ve seen impressive increases in circulation of our materials during the past year, so we thought this would be a good way to say thanks to our patrons,” Janet Shoup, Library Public Relations Representative, said.
The new logo is highlighted at the library’s revamped website, also due for release during National Library Week. With the update, website users will find video of library programs, links organized by age groups, and easier access to helpful databases. Also, anyone interested in learning about the library’s policies on fines, internet use, collection development, and other issues can find that information simply and quickly from any webpage within the website. Find the library’s website at http://www.tippcitylibrary.org.
“If you have used our website as a jumping off place after checking your library account in the past, give it another look,” Mrs. Shoup said. “It’s bigger and better, and we are focused on adding every way we can think of to make it indispensable for our patrons.

Big Robot/501st Fundraiser Draws Over 300 Visitors

March 30, 2008 at 10:17 pm | In Downtown, News | Leave a Comment

Hosted at Tipp City’s newest downtown business, the Tipp Video Game Celebration hosted nearly 300 people today – children of all ages came to meet their Star Wars heroes and experience gaming on state-of-the-art equipment. Darth Maul, Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers and a pair of Tusken Raiders were joined by Marvel legends Wolverine and Spiderman to entertain the visitors and take photos with children. Every computer and game console in Big Robot was packed with players enjoying Rock Band, Guitar Hero, and a wide selection of PC games. Employees of Big Robot Game Cafe served free food and drinks and introduced to a totally new entertainment experience in Tipp City.

During the event, donations were accepted by Child Care Choices, a non-profit resource and referral agency started in 1987 as a community attempt to meet the growing need for child care and to improve the quality of child care. The mission of Child Care Choices is to identify child care providers for Miami County families and to provide child care information, training, and support for families and child care providers.

For more information on the Big Robot Game Cafe, visit their website at www.bigrobotgamecafe.com.
